Description:
This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo Convertible is an exceptionally rare and well-optioned example of one of the most distinctive and unique cars of the 1960s. Finished in the original and stunning Sierra Tan metallic, this Corvair features the coveted 180 hp turbocharged flat-six engine, a rare option that makes this car stand out among other Corvairs. Only about three percent of 1965 Corvairs came with the turbo engine, and even fewer were optioned as Corsa turbo convertibles.
The Corsa model, introduced as the top-of-the-line sport model for 1965 and 1966, came standard with full instrumentation, a silver rear cove, and special pinstriping, which this car proudly displays. The car’s handling was vastly improved in 1965, thanks to Chevrolet’s redesign of the suspension, making the driving experience much more enjoyable and responsive.
This example is fitted with the four-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear end, which, combined with the turbocharged engine, offers exceptional performance. Additional drivetrain options include the factory heavy-duty oil-bath air cleaner, heavy-duty shocks, and springs.
The car was restored to concours standards, with a full engine overhaul completed by a specialist, ensuring that it drives and performs as it did when new.
The interior is well-appointed with a telescoping steering wheel, deluxe seat belts, headrests, and a padded dash. It also features Soft-Ray tinted glass and an upgraded push-button AM/FM radio with a three-knob stereo multiplex and a hidden CD player for modern convenience. The power convertible top is in perfect working order, allowing for easy operation.
This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo Convertible is a true collector’s item, offering a rare combination of luxury, performance, and a stunning restoration.
